A City That Works

For the People Who Keep Jacksonville Running

I work for the City of Jacksonville in Public Works, and I’m the next chief union steward for CWA. I’m the first active civil servant ever to run to be your mayor, so I know what your experience is like…and how seriously you take your work.

You’re more than “just” the ones who protect Jaxons and run the city. You serve residents more than anyone else in city government, and you’re usually the ones who actually address their problems. A better workplace isn’t just good for you. It’s good for all Jaxons.

And if you don’t work for the City, this matters to you too. Every time you call 911, apply for a permit, report a pothole, or wait on a repair, a city employee is on the other end. When they’re understaffed, undertrained, or stuck in broken systems, you’re the one who waits longer and pays more.

What I’ll Do as Mayor

  • Equip and fairly compensate the civil servants of Jacksonville to retain and attract the best talent to serve Jaxons. Fewer empty positions means faster and better service when Jaxons need it.
  • Update benefits and work spaces to reflect the 21st Century workforce. No more working in spaces that are a risk to your health and well-being. Good people stay where they’re treated well, and that’s who Jaxons want answering their calls.
  • Make JSO benefits and pay more competitive on the national market, so we can fill open positions and get more protection for our communities.
  • Implement world-renowned Arbinger Institute training and enforce the use of LEAN, so every civil servant is empowered to be successful. This change will waste less of residents time and tax dollars.
  • Create a Training and Development Department to support and manage projects and ensure everyone is trained properly for their role. No more overloading employees with these additional tasks that take them away from their core work. Employees who are trained right get it right the first time, so Jaxons aren’t stuck.
  • Improve systems and processes so work is streamlined. We save money, you’re more successful, and Jaxons get the help they need.

Tell Me What You’re Seeing

Civil servants know where things go wrong in the City better than anyone. If there’s something you think the next mayor needs to fix, I want to hear it.

Jaxons, if you’ve been stuck waiting on the City, tell me about it.

Send me a message.
